Hi Friends, I was recently blessed with an opportunity to review the DVD, Captive. I was so excited to review it because I had just recently read the book. The book was wonderful and I just knew the movie would compliment it perfectly. I was so right. The movie was awesome!
Many people probably remember the headlines of the escape, manhunt and capture of a man named, Brian Nichols. What we didn't know before the book and movie was what happened in the hours following his escape and then his eventual capture. Captive brings to light how faith and a chance encounter can change lives forever.
Based on a miraculous story about the power of faith, Captive is an "amazing, inspiring" drama about the spiritual collision of two lost souls, Brian Nichols (Golden Globe Nominee David Oyelowo), on the run from police and desperate to make contact with his newborn son, takes recently widowed mother Ashley Smith (Kata Mara) hostage in her own apartment. Fearing for her life and desperately hoping to see her daughter again, she turns to Rick Warren's The Purpose Driven Life for guidance. Ashley and her captor face a crossroads where they discover hope and light in the midst of despair in the moving film that Dick Rolfe, CEO, Dove Foundation hailed as "powerful."
As I watched the story I couldn't help but think how we don't have to be perfect or all put together for God to use us. To use us in ways that are incredible.
