Week 3 Challenge - Recipe Binder

Well I wasn't so sure I was going to do this challenge, but I did! Over at abowlfulloflemons is a challenge for a recipe binder. I'm not one to use recipes. I however will be more likely to use them, since I now have a nice binder to store them in. So I'm sure I will be calling the relatives and asking them for my fav food recipes. :) I get all kinds of excited when I complete a project, and this one is no different. Excited is probably an understatement. I have went around the house pulling all my recipes from different unorganized areas and placing them nicely in their new home.

The girls helped me with this one, and are now excited to pick up a few ingredients and make a couple dishes. I'm glad that they stepped in to help, and even more happy that they are eager to learn to cook. :) Awww.. This could be really, really nice.

I printed out some blank recipe pages, so I can add more later. These will come in handy when I call the "relatives" for those sought after dished we have during the holidays. I also used page protectors to insure the pages don't ended up with "food mess" all over them. Now, I hope that we do actually use this. It sure is pretty!

Many Blessings,
Jennifer

Kitchen utensils!

Ok, so I think I'm obsessed with a couple blogs. :) That's ok though. My favorite right now is abowlfulloflemons.  I guess if you have been reading my blogs, you would have probably already guessed that. Well the site is excellent and today I saw some great pictures of how people store their utensils. I took a picture to show you how I store mine.  I did this a couple years back, and have really enjoyed it.

I know it's been a while since I have updated. Well it's because my hubby bought me a new computer! :) Yes! Such a sweetheart. I have spent the last couple days figuring it out. lol. Well I've been kinda stuck with Windows Xp. So, now I'm a Windows 7 user. I didn't like it at first, but hours later, I'm coming around. It's not bad, I suppose.

Hope everyone is enjoying their day!

Many Blessings,

Organizing Keepsakes

Love keepsakes! For Christmas my mil bought each of my girls a box filled with shower gel, lotions, and lip gloss. The girls were eager to open the items and discarded the boxes as trash. I proceeded to pick up the trash, while everyone was admiring their new found goodies. When I came a across those boxes, I knew I had to re-purpose them into keepsake boxes. They were just to darn cute. So I got my paint out, and starting painting their names, and adding a few extra touches. I love them so much and it's nice to be able to have a special place for their ribbons, certificates, & pictures.

More Organization & Cleaning

Well January has proved to be a very productive month thus far. Still following along with the organization challenges daily. Super proud of the work that has been accomplished. Today I managed to organize the mail center and filing cabinet. Last night I cleaned out the fridge and cleaned the stove top.

It snowed here late last night. Roads have ice below snow, so traveling is not in my future for today. So since I'm home all day and the children are busy working away on their school work, I shall organize and clean some more. Just when I think I have organized the whole house, I find more.

I have really been wanting to organize the mail center for while. I usually open the cabinet, take a quick look, and close the door real fast, lol ;) As with everything, I hope since I put much work in, that it stays this way.

The lovely stove & fridge. I really wish I would have took before pictures.  Huge difference!

Many Blessing to all!

A little out of order.

So, in my previous posts, I told you about the organization challenges. Well I'm a wee-bit behind, but I'm gonna catch up. Today I managed to organize the spice cabinet as well as the medicine cabinet.  I'm headed to the bathroom cabinets next.

The captions in the pictures say it all! What a mess it WAS.
"Was" is such a neat word. :)

I started by removing all contents, cleaning the cabinets, and finding a couple small bins. I lost count of all the empty spice bottles I threw out! Empty spice bottles? Why they were in there is beside me. ;)  I then started adding things back little by little. I'm super happy at the end result. I think abowlfulloflemons has turned me into a organizing monster, but I'm okay with that.

Oh and finally the end result!

Organizing the Medicine Cabinet

Check out the above blog for new challenges.

I really needed to organize the medicine cabinet, so I did! JOY! JOY! So very happy now!

Well Here is the dreadful before picture. Can you say unorganized mess? I can, lol :)

Now for the cleaned out and awesome after pictures!

Took  everything out and placed it on the table. I then went through it and threw out expired meds, and things I had no idea way I was keeping. Moved the small appliances to another cabinet. I found small bins and labeled them and starting placing things back in their new organized homes.  :) Who knew organizing could feel so great! My husband was especially excited. He can now find what he needs with out everything falling out on him.

Keeping Busy, as Simple as We Can!

Blessings of a Simple Life!

Seems, the new year brings with it, not only, a lot of  great goals and aspirations, but also a never ending list of things I feel we must get done. For instance, I felt that I must go around and declutter and organize room after room. What a mess it has been, but a huge relief when all was done. I feel like I'm nesting, preparing for something unbeknown to me.

Today we managed to get a couple studies completed. One being a Martin Luther King, Jr study.  I found some awesome teaching materials to help with the study a couple months back. They sure came in handy today. I didn't have to search for hours on end, looking for the perfect materials. It's nice to know they were found quickly and organized into a specific spot. It helps!

We are in the process of trying to simplify our life. With much clutter cleared away, I feel like we are in the right path. I have project after project on a list, with most yet to be checked off. Maybe by the time 2011 is over, I can look at the list with relief.  :)

Sometimes it doesn't seem so simple to try to simplify things. I know that the payback will come in the end.

Blessings to All!

A New Dollhouse

Today turned out to be such a wonderful day. I begin our day organizing rooms and closets. This turned out to be a more drawn out process than I perceived. I was sure glad when we finished. There is such a joy about being organized. All of this was done by lunch, and to think I had put this off for months.

We also finished all of our school work and managed to get all of the floors cleaned and the stairs :)

Well on to the better part of my day.....

My mother-in-law came over and brought the coolest dollhouse. She got it at a garage sale for a couple bucks. Its very tall. There is definitely plenty of room for the girls to play with it together.

My husband and I put it together and the looks on the girls faces as it got bigger and bigger was so sweet. They were so eager to play with it.

Tomorrow we will be reading: When I Get Bigger by Mercer Mayer

This is a perfect pick and I picked it because of a conversation I had with Gracie.

Gracie informed me that she was going to sleep and gonna wake up bigger, and I told her she was correct, a night bigger :) and it takes a whole bunches of being a night bigger to be big like mom. :) she laughed!

*Blessings*
