A homeschool award for YOU

How was your homeschooling year? I'm betting you had some great days and some not so great days...Am I right?

Homeschooling can be a thankless job. There are days where we wish we could leave the house without the kids in tow. There are weeks that feel like they never end. There are also moments when you doubt if the kids are learning enough, if you are doing enough, if you are doing it “right”. Hang in there. I bet you are doing wonderful!

There are certainly no homeschool teacher appreciation days, unless of course you create them. There is also no homeschool teacher of the year award, but I'm changing that. Most would agree there is an award winning teacher in every home and I feel like you do deserve a thank you and an award.

Thank you sweet momma for all you do for your family. You are precious!

Below you will find your award. I would like you to print it and hang it somewhere. It can serve as a reminder that you rocked this year. Share it with your friends, because I'm sure they deserve it as well.

Homeschooling with Netflix & FREE Journal Pages

Homeschooling educational shows

Do you have visual and auditory learners? I sure do and have found movies to be a great educational tool for our homeschooling.

We absolutely love Netflix because we have access to so many wonderful documentaries and educational shows that my daughters love to watch! I figured I should write a post so I could share some of our favorites with you.

Wild Kratts

The Magic School Bus

Super Why!

Reading Rainbow Favorites

Mighty Machines

Netflix has now added a homework help section. I love this area! It has many great shows that truly do help my daughters learn.  You can see each section below. Very few are instant, most are mail only.

English & Language Arts

Military Documentaries

Please note that Netflix sometimes changes their offerings. So, some of these shows may not always be available.

Not finding what you want on Netflix? Search for it on YOUTUBE, you might just find what you are looking for.

I have also created a fun freebie for you all.

How to Make Crystal Snowflakes using Borax

Supplies:

Borax
Coffee Filters
Scissors
Water
Pan to boil water
Baking sheet with edges
ribbon
spoon

Instructions:

Make a supersaturated solution of Borax and water. Boil water and mix in teaspoons of Borax until no more will dissolve. Allow the solution to cool.

Fold coffee filters in half 2-3 times and snip the edges thinking about where the cuts will appear when you unfold it. You may want to practice on paper first and figure out where to cut to come up with a snowflake design that you're happy with.

Unfold your snowflakes and place them into a baking sheet and carefully pour the supersaturated Borax solution over the snowflake, making sure it's completely immersed.

Let the snowflake sit in the solution about an hour or until it's covered in crystals. Place it on paper towels to dry. You might need to use a toothpick to knock crystals out of the snowflake's holes.

Once it's dry, pull ribbon through the snowflake, tie the ends, and hang it on your tree or you can give it as a gift.

*You can add food coloring to solution if you want different colors
