Successful Homeschooling Made Easy ~ Review

I recently received the Successful Homeschooling Made Easy Course from Successful Homeschooling Made Easy to review. It was much needed. When I first started homeschooling 7 years ago, I was clueless. I had no idea what I was doing. All I knew was that I wanted to be able to teach my daughters from home and for them to love learning. I didn't realize that at times I would feel, well kinda unsuccessful. During the course of the few weeks I have been reading and studying Successful Homeschooling Made Easy Course I have learned a tremendous amount of information that I will take and use to make these next years so much easier on not only me but my precious daughters.

Successful Homeschooling Made Easy Course is a twenty-six week, on-line course designed by Stephanie Walmsley that will help you know exactly what to do to successfully homeschool right now.

The course covers a ton of wonderful information such as:
  • Practicalities
  • Schedules
  • Lesson plans
  • Organization
  • Planning
  • Teaching
  • Housekeeping
  • Extracurricular activities
  • How to choose curriculum
  • How to avoid homeschool burnout
  • And much, much more

You are sent weekly assignments for twenty-six weeks that will help you develop your homeschooling style and help you be a successful homeschooling family. Seriously friends, it doesn't get much better than that. It seriously is like having a homeschooling coach. I'm sure every homeschooling parent can agree that having a homeschooling coach is seriously pretty cool.

I received Successful Homeschooling Made Easy Course a little different than the normal customer for the purpose of the review. Instead of receiving the first four weeks within a four week span, I received the first four weeks upfront and then the rest of the weeks followed a normal pattern. Like I indicated above, these courses are all online. I received them as PDFs in e-mails. I liked that I had the option to either print them out, read them on the computer, or transfer them over to my Kindle. I did print out the first two lessons and add them to a binder. I then opted to read the rest of them on my Kindle because of traveling and other activities. However, I do plan on printing them all and adding them to my binder. Doing this will help me go back and highlight parts, make notes, and overall stay organized with the program.

The first lesson included a course introduction that gave me a quick look at what we would be covering in the following lessons and also allowed me to see everything that I would be learning during the course. It also explained how the process of the course worked.

Each lesson includes:

  • A Preface
  • The Lesson
  • A Summary
  • An Assignment
  • A Look into the Next Week
Stephanie recommends setting aside some time to read and focus on each lesson and assignment. I chose to use mornings for my time. It's quiet in the early mornings and I really felt like it was the perfect time to be able to really pay attention and focus on what I was reading and learning. I also had the rest of the day to think back on everything I had taken in.

Lesson 1 was all about making a schedule. There were some very helpful tips and questions to ask yourself when considering making a schedule. We have always had a schedule, but some of the questions made me rethink how I was indeed scheduling. By the end of the lesson I was shown step-by-step how to put together a successful schedule. Also, included at the end of the lesson was a blank printable schedule to use. It was recommended to print this schedule, fill it out and then display it in a prominent place in the home.

The next eight weeks of the course focused on:

An Easy Way to Teach Math
Adding More Subjects to Your Schedule
Getting a Clear Vision and Focus For Your Family’s Homeschooling
Three Key Ingredients For Success
Fulfilling Your Dreams
Why Curriculum Doesn't Matter
Why You Might Need To Let Go Of Good Things
Housework and Homeschool

These lessons also included recommended reading, and questions to ask yourself. Some of the questions were very thought provoking. At this point I still have 17 lessons to receive. I'm looking forward to receiving the rest of them because I know that they’re going to be full of great information and tips for our homeschool. The lessons so far have allowed me to slow down and enjoy homeschooling in a new way. I'm thankful for that.

Final Thoughts

Whether you are new to homeschooling or a homeschool veteran, I truly believe that Successful Homeschooling Made Easy Course would be beneficial. There is so much easy to understand information packed into each lesson. I found the assignments to be very beneficial. Not only did I have the opportunity to read and learn, but I had the chance to put what I was learning into action. Like I said before, in my opinion this course was like having a personal homeschool coach. I definitely recommend it.
