This morning before we started school I decided it was time to tackle our homeschool room. We cleaned and organized and I finally feel like I can walk in there without feeling sad. It's not as cute as I would like, but I can deal with it. It is indeed functional and it holds all our learning materials and that's what matters.

We are continuing our Native American unit with emphasizes on the Indians of the Northwest. We started out reading a wonderful book by Petra Press -
Indians of the Northwest - Traditions, History, Legends, and Life.
We also decided to make a Totem Pole today. We had a lot of fun reading and learning about them and the history of the Northwest Native Americans.
Here are a couple pictures of the process of making the totem pole.
I didn't get a picture, but we lightly spray painted each jug.
We then used construction paper for the faces.
We then told the story of our totem pole.
