Random 5 on Friday ~ Aug 29

1) Our homeschool co-op group starts meeting back up in September. I know my daughters are really looking forward to it.

2) I have been reading Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims to the girls. It is such a wonderful book. We are all absolutely loving it. My daughters all love horses and in the book there is a talking horse that can time travel. They think that is the coolest thing and they never want me to stop reading.

3) My youngest loves painting and has been doing it often. Below is her version of The Starry Night.

4)The county fair went very well for my daughters. Out of 11 combined entries, they received 6 first place ribbons.

5) The house buying process is moving along. I'm learning new things everyday. We had an estimate done for siding because, it desperately needs new siding. I'm so happy that it is going to be done. Unfortunately, I can't settle on a siding color. There are so many options.

Random 5 on Friday ~ Aug 22

1) We had an appraisal done on the house we are buying. I'm anxiously awaiting to hear back. Why does this have to be such a long process?

2) We started an earthquake unit study this week. It's been pretty fun. The day we started it, we had 20 earthquakes that day alone in Oklahoma. Makes me anxious.

3) My daughter brought me the biggest wasp looking thing I had ever seen in my life the other day. Apparently she found it still alive swimming around in our pool. I had never seen one before and really had no idea what to tell her it was. After much research we determined it to be a tarantula hawk. We learned it is the state insect of New Mexico and happens to have one of the most painful stings of any insect. Sure glad no one was stung.

4) My friend and I have started walking a few miles several times a week. We downloaded a neat tracker that shows us our routes, calories burned, and speed. It sure feels good to know that I'm getting some much needed exercise in.

5) The county fair is in full swing. My daughters really look forward to it every year. This year we had 11 entries combined. My oldest daughter made a guitar out of sticks and rocks. I love the way it turned out.

Random 5 on Friday ~ Aug 15th

1) It's time to start preparing and planning for our year and I literally haven't done much. I feel like we just started our break. 

2) My husband and I took the girls tubing at the lake a few days ago. They had an absolute blast. 

3) We gathered the seeds from our sunflowers and roasted them. It was the first time we had ever done that. We were shocked at how many seeds there were. It would have been a better experience had our oven not been out of commission. We used a toaster oven and it took what seemed like forever. 

4) Today I plan on re-organizing my kitchen cabinets. Usually I dread doing it, but I've gathered some inspiration from Pinterest and I'm ready to tackle it. 

5) I checked my e-mail this morning and found out I had won a giveaway (Home School Adventure Co. books) I entered last week. That was a wonderful start to my morning.

Random 5 on Friday ~ July 25th

1) We recently returned from a wonderful vacation in Arkansas. It is so beautiful there. We began by digging for diamonds, then headed north to Beaver Lake. We rented a cabin and boat. We used the rest of the time to relax. It was a wonderful trip and can't wait to go back. My favorite part was sitting at our cabin and watching the fog roll down the White river. Absolutely serene!

2) We close on the house we are buying in 6 weeks. I'm so excited!

3) My oldest daughter turned 11 years old yesterday. I'm so blessed to be her mom. She is so goofy and fun.

4) My hubby is very big into racing. He is a wonderful mechanic and loves all things cars. Even though it scares me, I support him. Our daughters and I were able to go watch him the other night. He did wonderful!

5) On vacation we visited the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. I loved it! It was very educational and beautiful.  I believe it's a must see if you are in the Bentonville, Arkansas area. They have the coolest stainless-steel tree in the entrance.

Random 5 On Friday - June 20

1) I love sunflowers. Our sunflowers are getting so big. We have one that is almost 10 foot tall. My daughters think it is so neat. 

2) I attended a car show with my hubby last Saturday. It was pretty fun. I forgot to bring the sunscreen so we spent a good amount of time sitting in the shade under trees. My poor hubby still got a pretty bad sunburn. 

3) I found the coolest volcano kit for $2.50 the other day! I couldn't pass it up and the girls absolutely loved putting it together. 

4) I should always listen to my hair stylist! Yes, always! I tried to apply a red to my really dark hair. Not good! It colored my roots the brightest red and didn't even touch the rest of my hair. I wore a hat until I could get it fixed. I don't like hats, but I loved them that day! :) 

5) I'm buying a house! Talk about stressful, but I'm finally going to be a home owner. I'm pretty excited!

Random Five on Friday ~ June 13th

1) It's over! The chemical stress test that was scheduled for Monday. I have to admit, it wasn't as bad as I expected. It still wasn't pleasant but I suppose it could have been worse. The best part though, my results came back NORMAL! Yay! It makes me so happy to know it's not my heart causing problems. Now to just figure out what is the problem.

2) I decided to clean out closets today. We now have about 4 huge bags of clothes to donate.

3) We had tacos for supper today! I love tacos!

4) Planning a family vacation is very stressful! It shouldn't be, right!? So many choices, so little time.

5) My hubby has asked me to go to a car show tomorrow. I like car shows, but what I really like is taking pictures of all the beautiful cars. Stay tuned for those pictures.

Random 5 on Friday - June 5

1) The girls found this cute little dude in our garden. :)

2) We have been having much more relaxed school days. Even though we are still doing school, I don't feel a lot of pressure lately for some reason. Not sure why, but it sure is nice.

3) We have been fishing a bunch the last few days. I still haven't caught anything but my hubby and daughters have. Below is a picture of my youngest catching her first catfish of the year. She was having quite the struggle, so daddy and big sis rushed in to help.

4) I absolutely love taking pictures. I literally have a camera with me almost everywhere I go. Recently, I took some pictures of our local lake that I just adore.

5) I'm scheduled for a chemical stress test for my heart next Monday. I'm stressed about the stress test. Aghhh! Seriously not a good feeling. I should have never googled stories about the test either. That certainly didn't help matters none. I am thankful the doctor recently gave me some Lasix for the edema I have been dealing with. It has helped a bunch.

Random 5 on Friday - May 30

1) We pretty much had an easy going day yesterday. We researched turtles, laid around and watched shows about turtles and my daughters made their own turtles out of construction paper and boxes.

2) Garden is still doing great! I'm so glad we decided to go ahead and have one this year.

3)  I had my Cardiologist appointment Wednesday and have to go in next Monday for a heart ultrasound and a chemical stress test. I'm not worried about the ultrasound but the stress test has me stressed out and a little fearful. Prayers would be awesome!

4) Our family recently went to our local lake for a walk and family time. It was such a fun and sweet time. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also took a ton of pictures, that I absolutely adore.

5) I really liked reading about what Miranda's, over at The Pebble Pond, parents were going to name her. It made me remember that my mother once told me my name was going to be ---- Destiny Dawn or Desirae Nicole. Somehow I ended up with Jennifer :)

Random 5 on Friday - May 23

1) I decided to clean out my refrigerator today. Oh man! It needed it so bad. My daughter told me we needed to go grocery shopping now, because it literally went from jam packed to barely anything. I realize we are a homeschooling family that loves science experiments, but I don't think our fridge should showcase them. Ha! I debated on adding a picture, but couldn't bring myself to show you. It was that bad.

2) I finally have a doctor appointment to see a cardiologist next Wednesday.

3) We headed to the pet store recently to buy ONE gerbil. We came home with THREE! My hubby also insisted we buy another cage and more tubes. Our girls were so excited. They each got to name one and their names are Spinner, Chubby, and Whiskers.

4) Our beloved dog, Mitch, got his hair trimmed, nails trimmed, and a bath today. I bet he feels so much better.

5) Garden is still doing great and a couple days ago I spotted our first tomatoes. Yay!
